Wild River Performance Boxers
How we started; My first Boxer was in 2010. I purchased Rocky as a companion from a pet breeder. I quickly gained an interest in performance activities due to his energy. He needed a job to keep him busy. We trained several times a week in obedience, agility, and rally. We also later gained interest in Nosework. Once we had a good training foundation we started trialing in events. Rocky was the first dog I trained and competed with.
As I researched and learned more about Boxers I decided my next Boxer would come from a reputable breeder. Numa was imported from Serbia. I wasn't planning on importing, but when I saw her for the first time I fell in love. Numa is extremely smart and willing to try anything I teach her. She loves agility, nosework, lure coursing, barn hunt, and may other activities. She has trialed in many states in the Midwest and holds over 50 titles in various venues as of 2019!
Numa passed all health testing and became the foundation for my very small and selective breeding program.
After many years of learning and researching Boxers our first litter was in 2018.
Diet: We believe in feeding a very high quality natural diet with no byproducts and very few fillers. Spring of 2012 we switched to RAW diet. We feed a variety of several RAW meats, bones, and organs. Our puppies are weaned to raw.
Vaccines/chemicals: We do give rabies according to local law. Parvo/Distemper vaccines given as puppies due to living in a high risk area, future vaccine depends on immunity determined by titer testing. We only worm our dogs if there is an issue. We only treat for fleas/ticks if there is an issue. We do not apply monthly chemicals to our dogs or our yard. Minimal vaccines and chemicals are preferred.
Our future: We believe in only breeding health tested dogs who are good examples of the breed. Our main focus is having happy healthy companions who have a job to keep them physically fit and mentally busy (obedience, agility, nosework). When we breed we take in consideration health, temperament, and conformation. The main goal is to improve what we have in our home. We will only breed when and if we have proper time to raise a litter. Our dogs are companions first, performance partners secondly, so breeding is last on our minds. If you would like a litter referral please contact us as we may know a reputable breeder who has planned litters or puppies available when we do not.
Puppies: We raise our puppies in our home. No outside kennels. We raise our puppies using Early Neurological Stimulation and follow the Puppy Culture Program. It is a LOT of work, but we want to give our puppies the best start at life. Companion puppies are sold on limited registration only. Full registration puppies may be available (to approved homes only) for show and breeding.
